Girls Basketball Recap

The Stevenson Girls’ Basketball team had two games this past week, with mixed results. On Monday, both the 8th and 7th grade teams lost to Northville Hillside. The girls fought hard but came up short against a solid Hillside team. The 8th grade girls were aided by the return of Peyton Massey, who had been out most of the season with an ankle injury. On Wednesday, the girls traveled to Livonia to take on Emerson. The first time the 8th grade girls played Emerson early in the year, they were blown out by 37 points. This game was much closer, but Emerson pulled away in the last quarter for a 10 point victory. Massey was the leading scorer with 6 points. “We played great defense against them,” said coach Brian Wagner. “We really have improved from the beginning of the year. That’s what matters. We actually had our first lead of the year against them in the 3rd quarter.”

The 7th grade team had an even better game. The girls won their second game of the year, beating Emerson 22-10. A great game was played by all.

The last game of the season is next Wednesday against crosstown rival Franklin at Stevenson Middle School.
