We Beat the Street

Brendan Gowder

We Beat The Street is a book about three doctors growing up in Newark, New Jersey. It is a true story about Sampson Davis, George Jenkins, and Rameck Hunt, known as ‘The Three Doctors’. They faced many challenges growing up in Newark, but they overcame them, got to college and became doctors. Near the middle of the book, it is proposed to Sampson by his friend Spud that they could get money by selling drugs, but once they got to the place where they were going to get the drugs, Sampson realized how it was a bad idea and got out of there. In eleventh grade, while skipping class, Sampson, George, and Rameck found a seventh grader with a can of silly string, and went to their biology teacher, sprayed her in the face with it and ran, Rameck was almost expelled, and would be seperated from Sampson, and George, and would ruin his chance of making it to college, but the teacher said that they should not expel him, because he was an over enthusiastic teeenager, and that he was one of the brightest students she had. Through all of these hardships, they had a friendship pact, that lead to success and all of them traveling the country to tell students across the country how they could make it through any challenge to succeed.
